Medical Herbalists

Tracey Humphries B.Sc (Hons) MNIMH
Tracey has a First Class Honours degree in Herbal Medicine, following three years full-time study at The University of Central Lancashire. The qualification is the culmination of a life-long interest in Herbal Medicine, sparked by her Grandmother, who was a Herbalist treating family, friends and neighbours from herbs grown in the garden..

Tim Cappelli B.Sc (Hons)

Tim holds a First Class Honours degree in Herbal Medicine as well as a first degree in ecology. Before becoming a herbalist he worked at the University of Manchester and also worked leading walks in the Lake District. Here he was able to share his interest and knowledge of plants to fellow workers, finding out more about the local history and use of plants in Cumbria. He is keen this tradition is kept alive and is used for the benefit of all, which is why he studied for herbal medicine at the University of Central Lancashire and is why he became part of Kew Gardens' Ethnomedica project to collect and record the traditional use of herbs.
This work led directly to Tim taking a 6 week trip out to New Zealand in 2007 to study the use of traditional Moari herbs and Tim's dedicated to, and interest in, the use of Herbal medicine led to him winning the Nigel Wynn Award from NIMH when he graduated. Tim enjoys collecting and using plants gathered locally and sharing this knowledge with Vitality + clients and in the two long distance waking books he has published.

What to Expect?

What can we treat?

Herbal Medicine takes a holistic approach to your well being, so we treat the underlying problems, not just the symptoms.

As herbalist's we have treated a range of conditions and have found most ailments respond well to the use of herbal medicine.

Initial Consultation

The Practice's herbalists are trained and qualified to degree level in differential diagnosis and clinical examination, as well as choosing and prescribing herbs. So your consultation with the herbalist will be much like visiting your G.P. You will be asked about your symptoms and a physical examination may be carried out. However, the herbalist will also want to know about all your body's systems and medical background, not just your present complaint. This first consultation therefore needs up to an hour in order for all the information to be gathered. Following this, a treatment plan will be agreed and a herbal remedy prescribed.
 Cost £45

Follow-up Consultation

Follow up consultations are much shorter and are designed to monitor your progress and fine tune or adjust your treatment plan as required. In this way, The Herbal Practice provides a one-to-one, personalised service, which supports you as long as you need it.
Please allow 30 minutes for these sessions.
Cost £25

"Three visits to the doctors couldn't cure it yet one consultation with you did. Needless to say I have been recommending you to everyone who has the patience to listen"
