 Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival is just round the corner - 16th and 17th April and the whole town is gearing up for this annual event - and that includes Vitality + ! You might not think of herbal medicine when you think of chocolate, but the good news is that Cocoa is not only delicious, but good for you. As herbalists we can use the cocoa beans in creams, balms and medicines. You can even buy your own kit and have a go yourself at home! 11:00 a.m. Chocolate Lip Balm Demonstration - Find out how the Mayans used cocoa to heal wounds and see how to make your own chocolate and mint lip balm 1.00 p.m. Chocolate and Orange Skin Cream Demonstration - Learn about the healing properties of cocoa butter and watch as we use raw cocoa to make a healing skin cream 3.00 p.m. Chocolate and Herb Bedtime Drink Demonstration - Chocolate is perfect as a mood enhancer and feel good drink. Learn how we combine it with powerful herbs to make a delicious bedtime drink to help you sleep. All demonstrations are free and will run on both days of the Chocolate Festival, but places are limited, so please arrive in good time. The Second Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival is nearly here and if last year's is anything to go by, it should be a busy, fun packed two days. See the video for last years event. The dates for this year's festival are the 27th and 28th March and there will be lots going on to see and buy and of course, lots of chocolate! You can download the programme and trail leaflet below. This will be Vitality's first festival and so we are celebrating with some special edition chocolate remedies, together with our usual chocolate soaps and shampoos from Essentially Natural and Faith in Nature. We will also be putting on a series of demonstrations on how to make you own chocolate based remedies: Sat 27th March and Sun 28th March 11:00 a.m. - How to make a Chocolate Tincture and the medicinal benefits of chocolate: Watch our qualified herbalist make a tincture made from raw chocolate and try a little for yourself. Find out how herbalists use the tincture and the medicinal benefits of your favourite food. 1:00 p.m. - How to make a Chocolate-mint lip balm. A demonstration of how to make a delicious and simple chocolate and mint lip balm made from natural ingredients that you can make for yourself at home. 3:00 p.m. - How to make Cocoa butter hand cream. Watch our herbalist make a natural and nourishing hand cream from cocoa butter and find out what herbs you could add to treat dry or damaged skin. And look out for our stall on the Sunday.
